THE GROUP’S FIRST NEW YORK SHOW IN 20 YEARS

February 8, 2012, NEW YORK, NY - Continuing their mission to globalize the entertainment industry and identify opportunities for international partnerships, Sound City announces more information about their inaugural New York show on Monday, March 12, 2012. Having already paved the way for global collaborations through boutique events in Texas, Norway and their home base of Liverpool, New York is the next step in a series of exciting new initiatives to be announced by Sound City in 2012.

New York Sound City will kick off its daytime session at The Hudson Hotel by presenting a compelling series of panels addressing the key music and tech issues of today. Panels will be featuring the very best transatlantic innovators and forward thinkers with the primary aim of building work and creative relationships between the music communities in both these great port cities while simultaneously inspiring and educating attendees.  The convention will culminate with a keynote panel on the continued rise of dance music in the US.  There will be key networking, drinks, lunch, roundtables and one-on-one networking opportunities throughout the day.

New York Sound City’s highly anticipated evening performance session will take place at Webster Hall with a feature headline performance from The La’s, marking their monumental return to the New York stage with their first show in the Big Apple in 20 years.  Outfit, the buzzed about Liverpool band and current Fly Magazine cover artists have also been added to the bill. Combining vocals that are pure Liverpool radiated with sunshine from LA, Outfit are signed to chic indie label Double Denim and have recently been described by the Guardian as a ‘Chillwave New Order’. More artists will be added to the line-up within coming weeks and will be announced upon confirmation.

The NYSC Music Session
 - A Hip Hop State Of Mind
This panel looks at the current state of Hip Hop in NY – is it in a healthy position? Do the “marginal” hip-hop artists feel they are getting a fair crack of the whip? Is it still the epicenter of hip-hop and if not, why not? What does the future of Hip Hop music & culture in NY look, sound and feel like?
