Daniel Jon

I ran into Daniel Jon and his friends at the Penny Police (click here to see Penny Police) performance on Friday night during the Iceland Airwaves 2010 music festival.

Daniel and his friends didn't let on right away that they were music and television celebrities in their own right though (very modest if I must say so myself).

After chatting a bit about tipping bartenders in Iceland, Daniel let it out of the bag that he too is an up and coming rock star (my words, not his. Daniel is actually quite humble considering his musical talent).

It turned out that Daniel was performing Saturday night off-venue for the festival and his good friend is a television star that has a brother in another band called Lights on the Highway, which you can also see here on TheNewYorkGrapevine.com (LINK).

Daniel Jon's music is skillful, passionate and thoughtful with a clear focus behind his sound. The acoustic performances below are just 3 of the songs he performed during Iceland Airwaves 2010 with backup singer Ylfa Marin.

"Stop" was a personal favorite with its manic arpeggios and a chorus/reprise that we’ve all thought of but never put down to words; that all the things man (and woman) deal with as we go through this experience called life and our failure to control anything when things go wrong... all we can do is stop.

Daniel writes all of his own songs and if you listen carefully, you will hear the oncoming train that is Daníel Jón.
