Looking for a quick get away. The Grand Cayman Island is the place to be. Tickets as low as $360, direct flights out of JFK, and the trip is only 3 and a half hours! I took last weekend to travel and check out this magical land. It was such a nice switch from NYC. Even the airport was all outdoors, beautiful weather surrounded.
The local beer is CayBrew, a crisp clean refreshing beer, and they go down so easy while relaxing on the island. The ocean is everywhere, and is definitely the focus of the island. Fishing is like shooting fish in a barrel, the sea life is abundant! Check out the local harbors and jump on board a day trip, by the time you get back you will have a tasty dinner that one of the coastal restaurants will have no problem cooking up for you, for a small price of course.
The only downside of Cayman is the monetary exchange between Cayman Dollars and the U.S. Dollar. Their dollar is about 20% stronger than ours, however, you quickly forget that when laying in the sun or wading in the crystal clear waters.
So take a break from this crap they call weather here in NYC, and head to the Cayman Islands! I did, and I really wish I hadn't come back!, but then who would have told you about it?
