New York is being ostracized for it's  unwilling cooperation in the latest 2010 census.  The Census, which has a deadline of April 15th, the same day your taxes are due, is not being received or returned very well by New Yorkers, and according to Mayor Bloomberg, this will cost our city money. The Census is used to determine, among other things, how much federal aid should be given to NY. According to the Census Bureau, each returned census is worth about $3,000 of federal aid to NY.  So far, Queens has had the highest return rate, with a whopping 62 percent, and trailing behind in a distant 2nd place, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where folks have actually hosted census parties. The census is a whopping 10 questions long, so before you have that beer after work today, do yourself and your neighbor a favor and fill out the 2010 census.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
