Huckleberry Bar is a cozy Williamsburg gem built on the foundation of knowledgeable hospitality. The bar features an extensive wine and spirits menu with a little something for everyone, from the inspired Porkslap Pale Ale and the smoky bacon-infused rye shot special to the Perfect Manhattan. Having a penchant for the unusual and quirky, owners Andy and Stephanie offer an outstanding selection of craft beers and wines. They replace Stella with Kaiser Pilsner and a Pinot Grigio with the light and crisp Austrian Gruner Veltliner. They include the Wild Boar Doe (merlot/cabernet sauvignon/ petit verdot/malbec/cabernet franc) on the menu, a juicy Long Island wine with a ìbigî taste. Tequila on the menu is from both the lowlands and highlands and vodka is flavored in-house with fresh ingredients from the green market.

At Huckleberry Bar, youíll find a solid page of classic drinks and a selection of creative concoctions gaining an ever- widening reputation. Huckleberryís Sidecar is lethal, and the Robert Philson, (Rittenhouse Rye, Carlos VII Amontillado, Maple Syrup, Grapefruit, Peychaud's) is a complex, sweet and smooth, yet potent recipe. Youíll want to try the jalapeno-infused tequila Sampogna cocktail that, with humble beginnings as a seasonal drink, has become a permanent fixture on the drink menu. Its name derived from a sweet mama cat that happened to have a litter of kittens on location last summer, The Moxie (Beefeaters Gin, Veev Acai Liquor, Grenadine, Nonino Amaro) is a refreshing delight.

Cocktails aside, there are good times, good coffee, snacks and dessert. The delicious chocolate cooked cream, topped with homemade Huckleberry jam, is a savory treat with hints of salt that wake your mouth to the refined taste and texture of the chocolate. It pairs well with Ramos Pinto port. There is good conversation with friendly, attentive bartenders and neighborhood clientele. A rustic, elegant interior with diffused lighting, Huckleberry is a place to bring a date or gather with friends. Itís somewhere to watch movies on Monday night and to listen to a wide gamut of excellent tunes.
Thursday through Sunday, resident DJs spin sounds that range from 60ís and 70ís Italian soundtrack grooves and French Mod Pop to 60ís Soul and early R & B and upbeat Blues. Youíll tap your fingers, bob your head or just get up and dance.
Huckleberry is a quality scene, filled to the brim with character, substance and taste. If itís ambiance and a choice menu that you look for in a bar, then Huckleberry is your huckleberry friend; and youíll return time and time again.
