This weeks cocktail hails from a newer establishment by the name of 1534. With the likes of Justin Noel, Raphael Reyes and Willy Shine working the room and pouring the drinks, you can rest assured you will have a grand time imbibing and enjoying the libations laid out before you.

With a new season on the horizon, TNGVY stopped by 1534 to sample drinks from the new menu. And here featured is the "Cocktail of the Week", "The Zanzibar". The noted flavor in this drink is the creamy, yet, dry texture of the sweet Tahini paste used in the drink. Tahini is a paste made from ground sesame seeds, depending on the region they are made in the seeds are hulled or not hulled.

The Zanzibar recipe is as follows:

I BarSpoon Tahini paste

1 oz Coconut Milk

.5 oz Demarara syrup

2 oz Appleton Reserve

these ingredients are shaken over ice and strained onto crushed ice in a tall Pilsner glass with a rim of a house made coffee tincture layered on top and a grate of fresh nutmeg.

The drink did not stand a chance once it was sat in front of my GF. We were both pleased with the creamy, maltiness, this was a perfect blend of well oaked rum, and flavors that did all of the enhancing you would expect from such creative minds. Cheers to 1534, The Zanzibar is the Bee's Knees, only , it's not, it's The Zanzibar!
