Simply darling! The colorful boutique is cozy and the air within smells sweet. Dress racks frame pale walls that are decorated with fashion illustrations. A wooden table presents a selection of accessories, a coat rack displays purses and hats, and hooks and jewelry trees glitter with necklaces and rings. Although Darling is filled with a range of treasures, it specializes in dresses. Owner Ann French Emonts, who attends trade shows, visits show rooms, and reviews look books, takes great care in selecting them. The dresses are feminine, fun, and flirty. Beautiful brands weigh racks, from Yumi Kim's established line of bold and colorful prints to up and coming sexy chic line Caroline Hedaya. Ann emphasizes that a dress must fit to flatter, and she supplements Darling with pretty and practical slips, hosiery, and intimate apparel.

 

Darling girls are welcoming and ready to chat. They are close to Ann, who in the past even taught shop girl Penelope. For thirteen years, Ann taught high school based on her experience as a dance and theater costume designer. With focus now solely on Darling, however, she finds handpicking merchandise inspiring and at times she will allow her girls to contribute to the task. Shop girl Rachel most accurately describes the boutique as the walk in closet of a very fashionable girl.

Ann has a love for vintage and Darling houses a number of special vintage pieces that range from garments to accessories. Some one of a kind finds are a vintage wooden purse with hand painted owls and a collection of vintage brooches, a couple hand painted with florals reminiscent of Russian motifs.
