From the time the lifts open until well into happy-hour, the 2010 Tachyon XC will allow you to shoot up to 10 hours of continuous, hands-free video, in cold-weather conditions, without ever changing the batteries or the SD card.* Although the Tachyon XC will not protect your hands from frostbite, you won't have to worry about removing your gloves to use the camera; it comes with an easy to use, one-button remote control.**
Both the 2010 Tachyon XC and XC Micro are extremely versatile and tough cameras that are housed in waterproof cases, protected from everything from a light drizzle, to your worst spill as you tumble down a double-black diamond (...not like that would ever happen). They both utilize a high-dynamic-light-sensor that allows them to record crystal clear footage in both the extreme bright white on the peak during a sunny day and in the deafening darkness while night-skiing. It also adjusts almost instantaneously the quickly changing light/dark conditions caused by trees, the mountain, clouds, and abominable snowmen. The ninety degree wide-angle lens hits that "sweet spot" of human vision, allowing the viewers to see nearly everything that the user does without any sort of warping caused by some lenses that are "too wide".
One final bonus is that the cameras are plug-and-play with Mac & PC, so playing, editing, and uploading videos is extremely easy; no software or downloads are needed! Share the memories as soon as possible by uploading them to websites like YouTube or Vimeo. Although we know your Mom believes you landed a double frontflip nosegrab, once your videos are on YouTube, your friends will too!
So whether you're barreling down the slopes, hitting the half-pipe, tearing along a snow-covered forest road or recording your kid's first ski-trip - as long as you have a Tachyon helmet cam, you'll be sure to keep those truly magical moments from the mountains with you in more than just memory.
*Tachyon, Inc. recommends Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries. Size AA for the 2010 Tachyon XC allows over 10 hours of record time in cold weather conditions. The 2010 Tachyon XC accepts up to a 32GB SDHC memory card allowing 16 hours of VGA video on a single card. Size AAA for the Tachyon XC Micro allows over 4 hours of record time in cold weather conditions. The Tachyon XC Micro accepts up to a 32GB Micro SDHC memory card.
**The Tachyon XC Micro does not have a remote control, but has a simple, one-button, design for easy use.
