The Square was debuted to a private crowd Wednesday March 31st, and it roared thru the crowd. This film, which originally debuted in it's home of Australia in June of 2008, has been gaining more exposure and was brought here to the states to help it gain some notoriety. The film was written and directed by the Edgerton brothers, Joel and Nash. These two as a duo are continually related to the Coen Bros, and after watching their film "The Square", I must say, The Coen Brothers have some fierce competition from The Edgerton's. The Square is about a man cheating on his wife with a younger woman who is involved with a tow-truck driver that conducts shady business. The two get caught up in their infidelities and lust for money. Dirty deals get dirtier and chaos ensues. Not only did I, but, also the crowd jump out of their seats repeatedly. I don't think I have ever heard the term "Oh Shit!" used so many times by such a variety of people. A very impressive nail biter, The Square will keep you riveted and curious through out the entire film. The movie will begin a brief run at The Landmark theater next Friday, April 9th. The movie also features a bonus short film from the Edgertons, it is of equal value called "Spiders" and Grapevine has posted that short flick here for your pleasure
