Turkey, stuffing, potatoes OH MY!
The day after Thanksgiving is a CRUEL mistress to us all. Our bodies go into food comas, sugar shock and possible dehydration and that’s BEFORE dessert...
Some like to run it out (and G-d bless you) and other like to sleep it off, others like to work it off at 4 AM at their favorite “door buster” sale where you can get a 80 inch plasma for $4.99, but my favorite go to post-Turkey Day relief is my favorite yoga class.
Now some of you are thinking to yourselves; but I have NEVER done yoga, let alone trying it after I’ve eaten the calorie allotment for a small island country. I say to you naysayers that this is the best time to try it!
Yoga is a great way to work your INNER body as well as your mind and what better day to relax both then the day after Thanksgiving?
If you belong to a gym, ask them about beginner’s classes or what is being offered on a holiday weekend to get your feet wet.
One of my favorite places is the Laughing Lotus studio in NYC and San Francisco. Not only does it sound friendly and NOT SCARY AT ALL, but everyone from the teachers to the newest students want to be there and share their own yoga experiences with everyone!
They also have plenty of workshops and lecture series to keep even the most avid yogi challenged and interested.
So laugh away your yoga fears (and hopefully some calories and stress).
