Bryan Fischer of The AFA (The American Family Association), says that despite the widely read words of his blog, he does not truly feel that Tillikum, the orca involved in the Orlando Sea World trainers recent death, should be stoned, for real, he simply believes it should be euthanized humanely. As for his reference to the scripture “"the ox shall be stoned, and its owner also shall be put to death." (Exodus 21:29)”, he says, again, he does not really fell the curator of the park should be stoned, but should be held liable for the death of trainer Dawn Brancheau.

Fishcer, is a firm believer that we are a part of a Judea-Christian world, and also is a strong supporter of the death penalty for murders, even referring to this whale as a conscious killer in our prisons.

But I ask you, is Dawn Brancheau herself not also responsible. It is a huge tragedy when any human loses their life without warrant, however, do we ask parachute companies to be held responsible for a jumper who packed their chute wrong? If a rock climber falls to their unfortunate demise, do we blame the rocks for not being stable? A man walking thru central park this past weekend was struck by a branch weighed down with snow, yet the Park officials say this is not the fault of the tree, in fact they say the branch that hit this poor man was healthy and simply just could not hold up under the weight of the snow.

Mrs. Brancheau knew more than the majority of the public about Orcas and Tillikum in particular. And again, this tragedy, while not being minimized, was still something she must have considered when working with this giant beast. Just as a pilot, or even drivers of vehicles know that there is an inherent danger that goes with this activity. I believe Sea World and other sea parks should consider whether keeping these massive mammals captive is a good idea, however, we as consumers are the most to blame, if anyone at all, we are the ones that go to these parks and ask for nature to be brought in front of us. Therefore, let this matter rest, let families grieve and let Sea World operate as they see fit.
