    In light of the charter school movement recently initiated by Mayor Bloomberg, and the increasing pressure on teachers for students' results, I interviewed someone who has been teaching high school English in New York state for over a decade: my brother, J. Emerson. Forgive him, he has so many good ideas.

    ... Yet, he's depressed. He continues to spiral over to the dark side. I think he likes it there. He tells me that if it would only stop raining and he could just see the sun, he'd be capable of getting back on the horse at the first hit of Vitamin D. I try to perk him up, but it's no use. He's got SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) apparently, and this is just the way it is.

    If the tax is meant to help out the budget issues of Ny schools, I would love it. If the tax was meant to help get NY out of debt, I would back it completely, but, alas, this is not the case.
